C G Newson

We know little about Corporal Aircraft Apprentice Newson except that he appeared on Harvey Morton’s dance list. He didn’t appear in the Pass Out Order of Merit list but his Thesis, which appeared in the The Locking Review Vol. 1 No. 5 1959, is listed in the index as:

Computors by C.A.A. Newson (84th) ……..49

This, of course, doesn’t confirm that he was indeed a member of our Entry.

However, Keith Runacres has a photo and he is absolutely certain that Chris Newson is in it. The photo was clearly taken early in our apprenticeship.  Chris didn’t pass out with the 84th as his name doesn’t appear on the 85th Entry List so he didn’t pass out with them either. Keith Runacres knew him Chris at RAF Honnington where Keith served from passing out until 1963.

Dave Gunby’s list includes him as:

Newson C G (82nd)

So, did Chris Newson start off in the 82th, come down to the 84th, hand in his thesis and then move down to a junior entry bypassing the 85th.
